The Rhimpee leather chair range is a striking combination of a Scandi-style timber frame in a reclaimed aged finish, with a contemporary silhouette of a hand-woven, white leather weave seat - a perfect combination of the organic feel of wood with a minimalistic modern style.

Introducing the Rhimpee Collection, inspired by the rich history of Riempie furniture originating in South Africa. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, each piece in this collection embodies the traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage of Riempie chairs used by early settlers in the 19th century.

Utilising the technique of riempies, which involves interlacing strips of rawhide or worked leather hide, the Rhimpee Collection offers lightweight and durable furniture solutions for modern living spaces. Originally created as a practical solution to the challenges posed by the harsh South African climate, riempie weaving provided a strong and flexible seating surface that withstood extreme conditions.

The Rhimpee Collection pays homage to this heritage while incorporating contemporary design elements to suit today's interiors. From accent chairs to dining chairs benches, each piece in this collection exudes timeless elegance and showcases the beauty of traditional craftsmanship.

Experience the enduring natural beauty and durability of Riempie-inspired furniture with our Rhimpee Collection, where heritage meets modern design.

Leather is a product of nature imbued with its own history and life, resulting in distinct and individual characteristics. Each piece will inevitably show unique, diverse signs of history and life.

Each skin will present both individual and natural characteristics, including different structures and discrepancies in colour. Scars, scratches, bites or rough spots aren't flaws, but a sign that your leather is natural and organic, therefore such markings are not considered faults but rather inherent features that showcase the organic nature of leather. We celebrate these unique qualities as they contribute to the authenticity of each piece.

Sungkai is a beautiful light-coloured soft wood that features an attractive grain.

Sungkai wood furniture is not recommended for use in full outdoor spaces, high moisture areas or spaces with direct sunlight exposure for extended periods.

For longevity, protect Sungkai wood furniture from being exposed to the elements and avoid direct contact with the ground (e.g. garden furniture use).

Do not expose Sungkai wood surfaces to liquids and wipe with a damp cloth to clean dust and surface grime.

To prevent yellowing, protect and preserve the matte texture of Sungkai furniture, applying a wax rather than varnish can assist.

Many of our sungkai pieces are treated with a reclaimed age finish to add a subtle grey grained texture to the design.

Humidity causes mould to grow. Limited airflow and moisture create a microclimate for mould to develop. In some cases, mould will begin growing on furniture, clothing and other contents within the home.
In instances when this occurs, it is not an inherent fault of the furniture, clothing and other contents; rather, humidity or dampness in the air can supply enough moisture for mould growth on any surface. Mould can occur anywhere, and humid climates provide the optimal conditions for the fungi to grow and thrive on any surface.
